Pengutronix at FrOSCon 2024
On August 17th and 18th, 2024, it's that time again: FrOSCon will take place at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Sankt Augustin - and Pengutronix will be there again as a Partner.
At our booth, we will be available to answer your questions about embedded Linux, open source and, of course, ourselves. We will also be showing the following demonstrators on current topics.
Labgrid and Testing on real Hardware
Now a classic: This demonstrator shows how testing of a complete embedded Linux on real hardware (DUT, device under test) can be carried out using labgrid.
The tests are written in pytest. Labgrid takes over the abstraction of the remote control hardware, so that even tests on real hardware feel like pure software testing. The LXA TAC provides the interfaces necessary to control the DUT.
barebox - Embedded Systems Bootloader
barebox is a universal and flexible bootloader for embedded systems. barebox makes no compromises when it comes to usability: thanks to its powerful shell and it's similarity to Linux working with this bootloader is particularly easy for every Linux user. In addition, barebox understands device trees and relies on the Linux driver model, which makes it easy to adopt components from the Linux kernel.
With this demo, we want to demonstrate exactly these properties of barebox: We show interactively how barebox can be used as a development platform for commissioning devices and for developing drivers. And of course, you can also play a round of Doom directly in the bootloader's framebuffer in between 😀.
Further Readings
FrOSCon 2023
In a few hours, the 18th FrOSCon will begin at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. Pengutronix will be there again with a small team. At one of the partner booths we will show some of our activities in the open source community. We will bring our labgrid demonstrator and the FPGA demo.
FrOSCon 14
Pengutronix has been to FrOSCon at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. This year we had a booth where we presented our Open Source activities and were able to contribute three talks. A booth at an Open Source conference like FrOSCon always opens doors to a lot of interesting conversations with new faces, old friends and colleagues.
Pengutronix at FrOSCon 2018
This year, a team from Pengutronix attended FrOSCon in St. Augustin for the first time. We took the opportunity to shake hands, talk about our latest developments and meet hackers interested in working with embedded Linux.
Pengutronix at FOSDEM and OE Workshop 2025
On 1. and 2. February 2025 it is time for waffles, Belgian beer and Open Source: FOSDEM will take place at ULB in Brussels. With over 8k hackers, FOSDEM is the biggest and most important Open Source conference in Europe. One other event riding on the wave of FOSDEM is the the OE Workshop (See the list of other events here.) We are participating in both FOSDEM and OE Workshop and are looking forward to many interesting discussions with developers of different Open Source software components - be it the Linux kernel, Yocto, Labgrid, Debian, KiCAD, ...
Pengutronix at Electronica 2024 in Munich
Electronica trade fair in Munich, Germany is just around the corner and Pengutronix is currently gearing up to showcase some of our latest topics and developments. You find us in Hall B4 Booth 102 (map).
Managing Complexity with Open Source
A few days ago, something exciting happened: I revisited my very first embedded system - a 34 year old stepper motor controller, driving the telescope mount of the Public Observatory Rothwesten, which was built by me back when I was in class 12 in highschool. Comparing those embedded systems from back in the days with the recent industrial systems, it is impressive to see that the latter ones are not manageable any more without the use of open source software.
More Conferences in September: Yocto Project Developer Day and KiCon Europe
September 2024 brings a wide variety of conferences: Pengutronix will present talks at the ELCE, Linux Plumbers Conference and All Systems Go. Additionally we will attend two more conferences: The Yocto Project Developer Day in Vienna and the KiCon Europe in Bochum.
Pengutronix at Embedded World 2024
Meet Pengutronix at the Embedded World 2024 in Nurnberg! You find us, as always, in hall 4, booth 4-261. As usual, we will be showing demonstrators on current topics at our exhibition stand.
DjangoCon Europe 2023
Django is Pengutronix' framework of choice for internal applications that handle our business processes. These internal tools are also a great opportunity to try out current developments in the Django universe.
